Alpha devlog #13 - Farming update


Welcome to this new devlog of my indie game "Too far, too late" in which you build a base on the moon and help your colony to survive.

In this video, I show the latest developments with the fully functioning hydroponic system that allows colonists to grow and harvest crops, and how there will be further improvements to the system in the future, including additional options for growing plants. I also detail the upcoming survival elements for the colonists, such as their need for food, water, and oxygen to survive, as well as the addition of random events that will bring a new level of challenge and replayability to the game. 

Here are the main points developed in the video:

  • Improvement of the main building assets to improve GPU performances
  • Use of LOD in Unity to improve GPU performances
  • Farming update with the implementation of the hydroponic system
  • Plants requirements (CO2, Water, Energy)
  • UI improvements for the crafting machines and hydroponic systems
  • Next steps in the roadmap: Survival, Food production, and Random events

The new elements added to the gameplay, such as the hydroponic system, improved UI, and future plans for survival elements and random events, enhance the overall experience and increase replayability, making the game even more exciting and challenging.
